The Lower Austrian Iron Trail and the heavenly Mostviertel region combine to become a marvelous region of pleasure. In the Mostviertel, Middle Europe's largest connected perry pear tree area, fine fruit wines, schnapps and juices are produced.

Waidhofen an der Ybbs
Waidhofen an der Ybbs is known as the ‘town of towers’. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the centres of European iron processing. Today, Waidhofen an der Ybbs is considered the pearl of the Ybbs Valley thanks to its historic centre.
Particularly worth seeing are Rothschild Castle and the late Gothic parish church, the citizens' hospital church and the monastery church. The town tower with its onion-shaped roof on the upper town square has a special history. You can find out many more interesting facts about Waidhofen in the 5 Elements Museum.
The weekly and gourmet market in Waidhofen an der Ybbs
From 7.00 a.m., organic farmers and market traders from the surrounding area offer delicacies. This is an invitation to stroll, look, chat, savour and shop.

FeRRUM - Iron in all forms
Ybbsitz is the region's blacksmithing centre. For groups, there are blacksmithing demonstrations in the "Fahrngruber Hammer", a historic forge from the 16th century, and other facilities.
The modern Metal and Adventure Center "FeRRUM – The world of Iron" at the historic market place in Ybbsitz presents the world of iron in a total of 9 themed areas.

By bike through the Mostviertel
Along the Ybbs, past proud Mostbirn trees, over gentle hills - idyllic square farms and cultural monuments in view. For cyclists and e-bikers, the cycle path network in the Mostviertel offers easy and moderately difficult routes.
For mountain bikers, there are 7 designated mountain bike trails around Waidhofen an der Ybbs, including the challenging Bellevue trail, which leads along the Panoramahöhenweg on a 42.2 km circular tour and offers magnificent views over the Mostviertel region.
Fly fishing in Lower Austria
Trout and grayling have an excellent habitat in the clear waters of the Ybbs. The Ybbs flows towards the Danube for over 100 kilometres.
You can fish for yourself in Waidhofen an der Ybbs over a length of 8.8 kilometres - in some stretches of water with a spinning rod, in others with a fly rod. It is a special nature experience in any case.
"Mendlingtal": Timber drift system & Theme trail
The Mendlingtal valley impresses with its imposing gorges and streams. The themed trail ‘On the wood trail’ starts in Lassing through the Mendlingtal adventure world. The main attraction is the timber drift, which shows how timber was transported from the valleys by water 100 years ago.
Our tip: A show floating takes place twice a month at the "Klaushütte".
Biking holiday in the Mostviertel
Bikers are welcome! There are numerous tours directly from the Schloss an der Eisenstrasse. On your biking vacation in the Mostviertel you can ride along the Danube into the Mühlviertel and plan a short excursion to Amstetten and Linz. On the Wiener Wald tour you can wind through Vienna's local recreation area.
